DJ Citizen Jane

DJ Citizen Jane

If there is just one thing in this world to bring people together, it’s the power of music. Not many DJ / Producers can say they’ve got what it takes to break through the subtle music barriers between several diverse groups, but then again none of those DJ’s are DJ Citizen Jane. The Cuban American, Miami born Pied Piper of the decks has been whistling her own unique tune and now is the most in demand female DJ in the country. Her resume reads like a circuit party passport that keeps growing every year. Citizen Jane an Open format DJ with vast music style has no boundaries. Her ability to read and keep a crowd going has allowed her to separate herself from the rest and rise to the top. Citizen Jane has headlined for LIVE NATION events and has even had the honor of performing at the “World’s Most Famous Arena” Madison Square Garden. Citizen Jane is the 2014 & 2015 Pink Flamingo Awards winner for “Favorite DJ” an honor voted solely by the public. In 2015 Citizen Jane was the lone woman on the ballot beating out Grammy Award winning DJ’s for the coveted award two years in a row. Her love of music extends beyond her high energy DJ beats that has led her to become an International DJ/Producer in a heavily dominated male musical world.

The Closing Night Reception will honor the best in the business and inductees into the LGBT Journalists Hall of Fame. NLGJA will induct two new members into the Hall of Fame, recognizing their courage and resolve, whatever the cost and whatever the difficulties: Ina Fried and LZ Granderson.

Visit with friends and colleagues. Bid on some fabulous silent auction items. Relax and unwind after a full weekend of learning and activities. Have a beverage from the bar. And dance the night away. But most importantly, wear your best 80s.

The Hall of Fame was established in 2005 as part of NLGJA’s 15th anniversary celebration to make sure that the stories of these groundbreaking LGBT journalists are told and preserved — not just for us, but for all journalists and all readers, listeners and viewers. In 2016, NLGJA is inducting two new members and recognizing their courage and resolve, whatever the cost and whatever the difficulties.

Join us to honor them and the achievements of our Excellence in Journalism Award Winners.

A ticket to the silent auction and reception is included in each convention registration.
