Michael Tune currently serves as Managing Director of the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA). He is entrusted to implement NLGJA's programs which are designed to strengthen and aid our network of members from across the country.
Prior to joining NLGJA, Michael was Operations Director for Appleseed, a national network of public interest justice centers in the U.S. and Mexico. As the organization's first operations senior staff, he was instrumental in Appleseed's growth for nearly eight years, in which time Appleseed doubled its staff and budget.
Acting as the chief operating officer for Appleseed, he provided the leadership and oversight for all internal functions of the organization, including personnel, finance, communications, and the overall operations of the company. He was also chief counsel to the Executive Director, and served as one of Appleseed's Interim Executive Directors during their transition in 2006-2007.
With nearly a decade of public interest service, Michael's passion is in business development, employee growth, and organizational success. He has a keen interest in helping companies grow and thrive. An empathetic counselor, Michael helps build people and their teams, and finds his work most rewarding by lending his skills to the nonprofit community.
