As NLGJA members and friends, your coverage of LGBT people and issues sets the bar within the journalism industry. NLGJA's Excellence in Journalism Awards gives you the national attention you deserve for a job done fairly and accurately. And by highlighting outstanding work within our ranks, we're truly able to lead by example.

- Excellence in Student Journalism Award
There is a $500 cash award and trophy for first place in all categories except the Sarah Pettit Memorial Award for Excellence in LGBT Media and the Excellence in Student Journalism Awards. First place winners in these categories receive a $1,000 cash award and a trophy. Second and third runners-up in all categories receive certificates.
Winners will be announced in early July 2008. Recognition of Excellence in Journalism Award winners will take place as part of NLGJA Goes to Washington, our 2008 National Convention & 5th Annual LGBT Media Summit, to be held August 21-24 in Washington, DC.

Entries must arrive at NLGJA’s National Office no later than Friday, May 2, 2008. Initial broadcast/publication must have occurred between May 31, 2007 and April 30, 2008 for consideration. Download the application above for special instructions on submitting embargoed material.
