Last night’s 18th annual New York benefit, Headlines & Headliners, was one of the best we’ve seen and made $75,000 for NLGJA’s programs and scholarships. Headlines & Headliners 2013 drew a crowd of 300 including Matt Lauer of NBC News, Gayle King of CBS News and many more familiar faces.

Headlines & Headliners is not only a benefit for NLGJA, but a chance for members to mix and mingle.  We’d like to thank the many members and friends of NLGJA who attended.

The 2013 benefit was held in the beautifully restored Prince George Ballroom. The Prince George was once one of New York City’s premier hotels. The hotel was rehabilitated and reopened in 1999 to provide affordable housing for low-income and formerly homeless adults and persons living with HIV/AIDS and the Ballroom reopened in 2005. This Neo-Renaissance ballroom was the perfect backdrop to last night’s festivities.

Headlines & Headliners is only possible with the support of sponsors. On behalf of the national board, staff and the members of the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association, we would like to thank our sponsors NBCUniversal, Voli Light Vodka, Bloomberg, JetBlue, CNN, Heineken, Hillshire, CBS News, Eli Lilly and Company, FOX News, General Motors, GPTMC, BuzzFeed, Fleishman-Hillard, The New York Times and Newsday.

A special thanks to the man who pulls the strings, Javier Morgado, a lifetime NLGJA member who has served on our national board. Morgado as Headlines & Headliners chair has continued to grow the benefit each year, reaching greater heights.
