Chicago
is well-known for producing both great journalists and stories the grab
national attention.
Founded
in 1991, the Chicago Chapter has grown from four members to become one of
NLGJA's largest and most visible chapters. With members throughout Illinois,
Wisconsin and parts of Indiana, the Chicago Chapter focuses on keeping
members connected, providing fun social events and mentoring student
journalists.
Our
members know how to work hard and play hard, and they have a strong
dedication to keeping the LGBT coverage of our local communities fair and
balanced.
One
of NLGJA's premiere chapters, we have hosted two NLGJA National Conventions
in our fair city, including "Out in the Heartland," NLGJA's 15th
Anniversary Celebration & Convention in 2005.
