NLGJA Philadelphia is one of the NLGJA's first chapters.
Its first meeting coordinated by NLGJA founder Leroy F. Aarons and Philadelphia Chapter founding member Larry Fish, and attended by about a dozen LGBT Philadelphia journalists was held November 17, 1991.
"If our chapter has a birth date, I guess that's it," said Fish.
Today,
NLGJA's
Philadelphia Chapter averages around
55 members from across Pennsylvania,
as well as those located in southern
New Jersey and northern Delaware.
Over the past 15 years, many of
NLGJA's national leaders have come
from the Philadelphia Chapter,
including current NLGJA National
President Eric Hegedus.
