Dear
NLGJA Members & Friends,
NLGJA’S
2005 and 2007 National Conventions opened doors
to endless possibilities.
My
first convention gave me the tools and the confidence
to land my first
job in TV journalism. Nearly
two years later, I’m
still using the skills I learned through the
conventions in my new position as a morning
anchor.
And
the conventions have not only helped me professionally,
but also personally when it comes to addressing
my sexuality
while working in a highly-visible medium
in the public eye. Meeting and befriending hundreds
of other LGBT journalists at convention seminars
and
mixers gives you a sense of security, especially
in a field where LGBT issues are saturated
in
the media.
Don’t
hesitate to go to an NLGJA National Convention
because you think you can’t afford it.
Believe me, the benefits are worth every penny.
Sincerely,
Deepak
Saini
