About the NLGJA Scholarship Fund

NLGJA is pleased to announce the NLGJA Scholarship Fund, an endowment created to provide academic scholarships to students committed to NLGJA’s mission of fair and accurate coverage of the LGBT community.

Our first award is the Leroy F. Aarons Scholarship Award. This academic award is named in the memory of NLGJA’s founder, the late Leroy F. Aarons, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and editor. The first scholarship award recipient was announced at NLGJA’s 11th Annual New York Benefit, Headlines & Headliners, on Thursday, March 16th, 2006.

We invite you to help NLGJA build this endowment by contributing today. This is a lasting gift that gives you the opportunity to be permanently connected to NLGJA and to support future generations of journalists.

The endowment generates a perpetual stream of revenue allowing NLGJA to expand our awards program in the future so that we may help many more deserving students.

Why Give Today?

Please make a tax-deductible contribution of $50, $100, $250, $500 or whatever you can afford at this time. Gifts of $500 or more to the NLGJA Scholarship Fund automatically enroll you in NLGJA’s major donor program, the NLGJA Newsroom.

NLGJA & The Philadelphia Foundation Partnership

NLGJA has partnered with The Philadelphia Foundation (TPF), a community foundation established in 1918, to administer the NLGJA Scholarship Fund. The Delaware Legacy Fund, a component fund of TPF serving to advance philanthropy within the LGBT communities, will disburse the scholarship awards upon receiving recommendation from NLGJA during each award period.
