Frank Bruni, Op-Ed columnist for the New York Times and an M.S. '88 graduate from Columbia Journalism School. Bruni is the Times' first openly gay Op-Ed columnist, but has held numerous positions since joining the newspaper in 1995, including a two-year stint as Rome bureau chief followed by five years as chief restaurant critic.
Bruni is the author of two New York Times bestsellers: "Born Round: The Secret History of a Full-Time Eater," a memoir published by Penguin Press in 2009, and "Ambling Into History," a chronicle of George W. Bush's presidential campaign, published by HarperCollins in 2002.
He is also co-author of "A Gospel of Shame: Children, Sexual Abuse and the Catholic Church," published by Viking in 1993. In March of 2012, Bruni received the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation’s Media Award for Outstanding Newspaper Columnist.
