Diversity in American Media: LGBT Stories and Storytellers

NLGJA, Buzzfeed, The Philip Merrill College of Journalism and the University of Maryland will be hosting a day-long event, “Diversity in American Media: LGBT Stories and Storytellers.” The program will bring together prominent LGBT journalists and UMD faculty and students to engage the campus in a conversation around journalism and LGBT identities.

Students will have two panel presentions during the day addressing LGBT issues in the newsroom and in news coverage. Students will also have a chance to work with network with panelists and produce work with panelists to produce a piece of media. The event will also include a keynote speech by MSNBC's Thomas Roberts at 7:00pm in Orem Alumni Hall Ballroom A at Riggs Alumni Center on the University of Maryland's campus. The evening keynote will be open to the whole community.
