NLGJA Announces Prominent National Journalists at 2009 Convention
Neda Ulaby of NPR joins other industry leaders to speak at September gathering in Montreal

Washington, D.C. Neda Ulaby of National Public Radio (NPR) will be among the notable speakers at the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association's (NLGJA) 2009 National Convention & 6th Annual LGBT Media Summit in Montreal , QC , Canada on Sept. 10-13, 2009 .

Ulaby is known for her work reporting on arts and culture, including a series on female record producers. Ulaby will be part of a plenary discussion on representations of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) characters in popular culture. She will be joined by other journalists from the nation's top outlets including: 

•  LZ Granderson, senior writer, ESPN The Magazine

•  Jon Barrett, editor in chief, The Advocate

•  Michelangelo Signorile, host, “The Michelangelo Signorile Show”

•  Jeffrey Kofman, correspondent, ABC News

•  Michael Rogers, publisher, Page One News Media, Inc. and author, blogACTIVE

“Not only are our speakers well known and respected in the world of journalism, they work every day to promote balanced and responsible news coverage,” said NLGJA Managing Director Michael Tune. “This all-star lineup will share compelling stories, opinions and information with convention attendees – just one of the many reasons you can't miss this year's NLGJA Convention.”

 

NLGJA's National Convention & LGBT Media Summit provides media professionals the opportunity to participate in high-level training with some of the industry's best and brightest, as well as providing the opportunity to make the contacts and connections that will strengthen them in their field.

 

“We are excited to gather together our members and all those interested in quality journalism, especially as the industry faces increasing challenges to maintain thriving newsrooms,” added Tune. “We believe events like these are an essential part of helping LGBT journalists remain a strong, positive presence, providing training and support for those who shape the world with their stories.”
