Dear NLGJA Members & Friends,
We are pleased to announce that NLGJA has met our $200,000 goal for the Challenge Fund for Journalism II. Thanks to everyone who contributed to making this campaign a great success.
This is a significant moment for NLGJA. Meeting this goal is a very real demonstration of the commitment our members and supporters have to the pursuit of NLGJA's mission of fair and accurate coverage of the LGBT communities. It sends a clear message about NLGJA's desire for fair workplace practices in newsrooms across the country.
Meeting this goal means we are better positioned to face the challenges that lie ahead for our organization and the industry as a whole. We will be able to improve existing programs and launch new initiatives. We will be able to continue supporting the work of journalists with resources such as NLGJA's Stylebook Supplement on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Terminology. We will be able to continue to meet with journalists across the country through our Newsroom Outreach Project. We will be able to continue encouraging the next generation of journalists and newsroom leaders through the Leroy F. Aarons Journalism Education Program.
To do this, however, we will continue to need the help and support of all our members. Together, we can ensure a future where every newsroom is a newsroom for everyone.
NLGJA would like to thank the Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation, the Ford Foundation, and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation for their generous grant and the TCC Group for their administration of the Challenge Fund for Journalism II. And, again, to everyone who helped NLGJA meet the challenge.
Sincerely,
Eric Hegedus
