Supporting fair and accurate coverage is a huge step in the making of excellent journalism and deserves to be embraced universally.
The Diversity Oversight Committee supports the mission of NLGJA by advancing greater inclusion, interaction, representation and understanding of underrepresented journalists both in the organization and the journalism/media communities.
This includes, but is not limited to, female journalists, journalists of color, journalists living and working with disabilities, transgender journalists, and senior journalists.
The Diversity Oversight Committee (DOC) has created a 2005-2007 Strategic Plan that reflects steadfast commitments to learning and teaching diversity throughout the organization, membership goals exceeding industry standard percentages of underrepresented markets, and inclusion on all levels the organization, from membership to leadership. Additionally, the DOC has enjoyed and supported successful panels, event and receptions with our fellow journalism organizations at AAJA, NABJ and NAHJ national conventions. We were also present and supported the formation of NABJ’s Gay & Lesbian Task Force & NAHJ’s GLBT caucus.
The DOC invites you to be a part of the mission to raise and foster awareness of NLGJA’s various levels of diversity. Thanks in advance for your support and commitment to diversity as a whole.
