	You Are Who You Know Like any other industry, the media industry is very much about who you know. That's not to say that you should sell your textbooks for a new iPod, but having contacts who know you and your media mojo are important because they can open up doors. As an NLGJA student member, you will gain access to NLGJA's online membership directory and receive invitations to local and national networking events, both of which will put you in direct contact with journalists and media professionals from all mediums who are interested in advancing your career.
	Who Doesn't Love a Deal? In addition to having a special membership rate of $25 for one year (come on, that's a fraction of what you probably spend on jeans), NLGJA student members qualify for a discounted rate to NLGJA's National Convention. Our annual meeting convenes over 650 movers and shakers in the media today, and features skills-building workshops and networking events that you won't find in any leacture halls. Plus, you'll be eligible to apply for our Convention Assistance Fund, which subsidizes convention registration and travel costs for NLGJA members.
