Matthew BajkoMatthew S. Bajko is an assistant news editor at the Bay Area Reporter, the country’s oldest continuously publishing LGBT newspaper. He also writes the paper’s political column, started by gay political pioneer Harvey Milk, covering the Bay Area and California’s LGBT political scene.

In 2013 he was selected for a MetLife Foundation Journalists in Aging Fellowship, a program of New America Media and the Gerontological Society of America. It resulted in a month-long series on issues facing LGBT seniors that ran in April 2014.

An award-winning journalist, he has written for LGBT publications such as OutTraveler, Pink Magazine, Out Now Magazine, and OutWord. He also was a news correspondent for the San Francisco-based LGBT radio program Swirl Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio’s Out QNews.

He has worked as a stringer in the Bay Area for entertainment magazine US Weekly and currently freelances for the monthly Noe Valley Voice newspaper.

He lives in San Francisco with his husband of 14 years.
