alecia reid bio picAlecia is currently a General Assignment Reporter at KRON-TV, covering the Bay Area. She covers big breaking news stories including the Ebola outbreak, the chokehold death of Eric Garner by a New York City police officer, violent protests in Oakland after the Michael Brown Jr. verdict in Ferguson, Missouri, the George Zimmerman verdict, and the Bart strike in July 2013 that cripled the Bay Area. She also solo anchored the Asiana flight 777 plane crash at San Francisco International Airport for 2 hours straight.

Before coming to the Bay Area, she was with News 12 Brooklyn covering epic stories such as the Miracle on the Hudson, President Barack Obama’s Inauguration, the 2010 earthquake, all the tornadoes that hit Brooklyn in 2010, and hurricane Irene n 2011.

Alecia loves giving a voice to people that may not otherwise be able to tell their stories. When not covering the news, you can find her volunteering with a number of charitable organizations, traveling, and trying different types of food.

Alecia is a member of the Golden Key Honor Society, Habitat for Humanity San Francisco & Globabl Village, Big Brother Big Sister Bay Area, the National Association of Black Journalists and MIKA Girls Basketball, where she helps pave the way for student-athletes to become successful on and off the court.
