The 2018 National Convention in Palm Springs will be here before we know it and we are so excited that you’ll be joining us. We have a great weekend scheduled with some other amazing speakers.
If you’ve been schedule to speak, you will receive an email confirmation with details about the time and speaking location. Please make sure to arrive at a minimum 15 minutes prior to your schedule event and check in at the Convention Registration Desk.
All Speakers Must Register by Monday, September 3
Convention Speakers receive a complimentary One-Day Only registration for the day of their speaking session. You will receive an email confirmation for the day of your registration. If you would like to attend additional convention days, we offer a discounted Speaker Registration rate for $295. Please fill out the registration form to take advantage of the discount. Please let us know if you plan to attend just your session, one-day only, or the full convention.
Online speaker registration ends Monday, September 3, 2018.
Not a member of NLGJA?
Think about becoming one. Membership dues help offset some of the costs of convention, it helps strengthen the viability and visibility of NLGJA and shows your support of this great group of LGBTQ media professionals. Even if you do not identify – allies are always welcome!
Please Submit: Biographic Information and Headshots by June 1
All speakers must submit biographic information to Convention@nlgja.org. Please include:
- Bio (Up to 200 words)
- Headshot (Print Quality, minimum 2″ x “3, 300 dpi)
- Professional Title
- Affiliation / Website
- Twitter Handle or other Social Media Links
Sponsored Panels
Some sessions at the the 2018 NLGJA National Convention may be sponsored. If your panel is sponsored, NLGJA Development Director Maya Blackmun will be in contact with the panel moderator about any specifics.
Scheduling Requests
Scheduling requests must be made by April 13. Schedule change requests made after this date will be considered, but are not guaranteed.
Please note: Any and all panel, workshop and plenary sponsorships must be arranged in advance by NLGJA’s Development Director. A few words of recognition of an employer and/or project is permissible, but additional recognitions or lengthy remarks about a company or organization may interfere with existing sponsorship commitments and hamper NLGJA’s fundraising efforts. Audio Visual Equipment
Most, but not all rooms come equipped with a projector. Speakers and microphones are not planned in any of the breakout sessions. If you have questions about the A/V provided, please contact Convention@nlgja.org.
You will need to supply the following:
- Laptop Computer
- Demonstration Equipment
Wi-Fi Connections
Wi-fi connects are available throughout the host hotel. Access to an internet connect is based on usage so access cannot be guaranteed at all times. Please make a backup should you plan to use an internet during your presentation.
- Please make sure to download all presentation materials prior to your session. NLGJA cannot guarantee internet access for any presentation.
- Remote or Skyped speakers should not be planned and may not be accessible during the convention.
If you do require internet for your presentation, please contact Convention@nlgja.org with your request for dedicated access.
Hotel Zoso Palm Springs
The 2018 NLGJA National Convention Hotel is the Hotel Zoso Palm Springs. Please make your reservations prior to August 15, 2018 in order to secure your room.
Printed Materials
We encourage you to go green at the 2018 NLGJA National Convention. NLGJA will not print copies of handouts or materials for your breakouts or panels. We can make downloadable content available from the online convention program. Please provide materials by Friday, September 1, 2018.
If you would like to provide printed materials, expect between 20-40 attendees in each breakout session and up to 250 attendees in each plenary.
Parking
NLGJA does not validate parking at the Hotel Zoso Palm Springs. Speakers are responsible for their own parking costs.
