Our co-blogger Oriol R. Gutierrez Jr. is featured on National Public Radio’s Talk of the Nation today discussing coming out and his column in Poz magazine describing his coming out experiences.

The show was a great example of what can be done with the intimacy of radio, the addition of callers and emailers, and two engaging people talking about their life stories.  While nominally pegged to the Adam Lambert’s coming out, Neal Conan asked interesting questions and showed a nice grace in dealing with some pretty horrifying stories from callers.

Kudos to Talk of the Nation for also featuring two LGBT people who weren’t white.  While you often see stories about coming out from the perspective of racial minorities, this show didn’t bill itself as a special minority episode of the coming out experience, but instead talked about coming out generally and did it through the voices of minority LGBT people.
