Progressive media watchdog Media Matters is getting a lot of attention for their efforts today to dispel “myths” related to the coverage of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. Their efforts are endorsed by “a coalition of leading organizations and activists joined together to issue an open letter to the news media demanding that reports on DADT remain accurate and fair,” according to their press release.

The coalition includes AMERICAblog, Courage Campaign,  GLAAD’s, the Human Rights Campaign, Knights Out, the National Center for Lesbian Rights, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, National Security Network,  Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, Servicemembers United, Truman National Security Project, VoteVets and Lt. Dan Choi.

For reporters looking for background on the ongoing debate, MM has provided an exhaustive amount of information from those supporting repeal of DADT.  Check it out.
