Michael TriplettLas Vegas, NV – Yesterday the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association board of directors unanimously voted to confirm Michael Triplett as National Board President for a two-year term. Triplett is the assistant managing editor for Bloomberg BNA, Inc and writes for the NLGJA blog: Re:Act. He will be available to meet with members Thursday, August 2, at the NLGJA Membership Meeting.

On Wednesday, July 25th, in the first contested election for National Board President in several years, the members of NLGJA voted to support Triplett as the new head of the 23-year-old professional association.

“I am honored to have been elected president of NLGJA,” said Triplett. “This is an organization with an amazing future ahead of it and I look forward to being part of that future. Thanks to David Steinberg, our outgoing president, who guided us through some of our most challenging years and put us on our positive path.”

Triplett was confirmed at the board of directors meeting Tuesday, held in Las Vegas, Nevada just prior to the beginning of the UNITY 2012 Convention. In addition to Triplett, the board confirmed Vice President of Print & Digital, Sarah Blazucki, and Board Members Matthew Berger, Barbara Dozetos, Sharif Durhams, Laura Kutch, Patty Mattern, and Steve Rosen.

The position of Vice President of Print & Digital position to be held by Blazucki was re-titled by the board of directors to better reflect the change in the industry.

The new board takes over its roll at the conclusion of the UNITY 2012 Convention, Sunday, August 5th, 2012. More information on the convention can be found at www.unityconvention.org.
