The National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA) congratulates The Washington Blade on its invitation to join the White House print press pool. While this is not the first time LGBT journalists have served in the press pool, we appreciate that The Blade is being recognized for its value as a LGBT community newspaper. We thank the White House Correspondents Association for recognizing the need to include our community in national coverage.

NLGJA is not an advocacy group, but a group of working journalism professionals dedicated to ensuring fair and accurate coverage of the LGBT community. We hope that the WHCA will continue to use LGBT journalists as a resource. NLGJA isn't just for LGBT people. As your colleagues, we are here for all journalists. Please feel free to reach out to our leaders and members for guidance and assistance. Or check out our online styleguide supplement on LGBT terminology https://www.nlgja.org/resources/stylebook.
