Maya Blackmun will be responsible for revenue and resource development at NLGJA starting tomorrow, February 1.


Maya joins NLGJA after several years as a strategic consultant advising on nonprofit fundraising, program development, communications and operations. Previously, she served as communications director for a statewide LGBT organization and as interim executive director for the Asian American Journalists Association. Before that, she covered a number of beats during a two-decade career as a staff writer for The Oregonian. Maya received a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of California, Berkeley. She and her family have called Portland home for many years. She looks forward to putting all her research, analysis and connections expertise to work for NLGJA's vital mission.
