Excellence in Journalism Awards

NLGJA has extended the entry deadline for the 2013 Excellence in Journalism Awards to Wednesday, May 1, 2013.

Entries must be submitted by midnight Eastern Daylight Saving Time May 1, 2013 for consideration.

Work published in 2012 is eligible and submissions are due Wednesday, May 1, 2013. For online submission forms, click here; more information on the award submission guidelines is available here

The NLGJA Excellence in Journalism Awards were established in 1993 to foster, recognize and reward excellence in journalism on issues related to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.

Work may be submitted for NLGJA's Excellence in Journalism Awards in the following categories:

Special recognition awards:

  • Journalist of the Year Award
  • Sarah Pettit Memorial Award for the LGBT Journalist of the Year

Print/online awards:

  • Excellence in HIV/AIDS Coverage Award
  • Excellence in News Writing Award
  • Excellence in Feature Writing Award
  • Excellence in Opinion/Editorial Writing Award
  • Excellence in Online Journalism Award
  • Excellence in Multimedia Award
  • Excellence in Photojournalism Award
  • Excellence in Student Journalism Award

Broadcast awards:

  • Excellence in Network Television Award
  • Excellence in Local Television Award
  • Excellence in Radio Award
