Rob Williams and Arnie States, hosts of the Rob, Arnie & Dawn in the Morning radio show heard in Sacramento, California on KRXQ 98.5 FM and Reno, Nevada on KDOT 104.5 FM, landed in hot water this week with the LGBT community for attacking transgender people on air.

According to the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), the radio hosts spent more than 30 minutes explicitly promoting child abuse of and making cruel, dehumanizing and defamatory comments toward transgender children during a discussion about a transgender child in Omaha, Nebraska and her parents’ decision to support her transition.

GLAAD alerted supporters and the news media about the anti-trans comments in an action alert earlier this week. To  listen to the entire segment beginning at 4:48, click here.

GLAAD did credit co-host Dawn Rossi for standing up to Williams and States during the segment.

Nonetheless, GLAAD called for people to contact KRXQ management in Sacramento to demand that Williams and  States publicly apologize.

The story broke just as a state Superior Court judge in Sacramento dismissed a lawsuit seeking to invalidate SB 777, the California Student Civil Rights Act, which prohibits discrimination against students on the basis of race, religion, disability, gender, and sexual orientation.
